" SDLMAME is a port of the popular MAME™. There are a few principles that guide it’s development: 1) run on Linux/Unix, Mac OS X, and other SDL supported operating systems with as few changes as possible to the base Win32 code. This means we can track changes faster than larger more conventional ports such as MacMAME, and we also maintain what I call “Firefox compatibilty” where learning a major app only needs to be done once per application, and it then applies across many operating systems. If you can use the command-line Win32 MAME, you already know how to use SDLMAME on any platform you may encounter it on. 2) MAME developers are important. By keeping quickly up to date, we make it easy for people on non-Windows platforms to make and submit changes to the core MAME code, and we offer native implementations of MAME’s multi-window GUI debugger on both Linux/Unix and Mac OS X.
The latest version is 0.125. Nothing SDL-centric in this one, but baseline has several nice fixes as usual.
The stable version is also 0.125."

" QMC2 is a Qt 4 based UNIX GUI frontend for SDLMAME
Today we proudly present the second beta release of the 0.2 series of QMC2, which is in sync with SDLMAME 0.125 (also released today).
There are not too many new features, but some are worth an update. Here are the most important changes / additions:
Polish translation of emulator options template completed (Julian Sikorski)
French translation by Vincent Bousquet - great job, thanks!
Improved template reader for emulator options (using QXmlStreamReader)
Template syntax changed to a new format to allow for easier translation (this format is not compatible with older versions of QMC2!)
Game's short name (the game ID) is now also included in the gamelist and can be used for sorting
A lot of work has been done to the upcoming direct GUI control via a joystick, but it's not yet complete (and disabled by default for this release). If you would like to test what has already been done, make sure you have the SDL devel packages installed and compile QMC2 with "JOYSTICK=1"."

 Reported on winehq:
"Wine is finally in code freeze in preparation for releasing wine 1.0, and we need your help!
If you are a user, now would be the time to help us find regressions and file them at bugzilla so we know what we have to fix.
According to Wine's release plan, wine-1.0.0-rc1, will be the first release candidate for 1.0. It is expected to be released at 09th of May 2008.
The code freeze will be less rigid at first, but we're serious about not destabilizing Wine at this point. So go ahead and post your patches, but make sure you've got your ducks in a row, and don't be surprised if Alexandre pushes back.
During the code freeze, patches that are simple, come with a conformance test, fix a regression and/or are low risk are more likely to get in than other patches. This has always been true, but it's even more true during a code freeze. We will actively discourage patches that might endanger a June 1.0 release.
There are 45 open 1.0 bugs as of 2 May. Most of these will simply be rolled over to be fixed for a later release; we only have time to fix a few, and much as we'd like to fix the rest, most are not showstoppers."
So go ahead and give them some help.

"Mini vMac emulates a Macintosh Plus, one of the earliest of Macintosh computers, sold between 1986 and 1990. It can run old Macintosh software that otherwise couldn’t be used on recent computers, and so helps to preserve history, from the era when the modern user interface for computers was being defined.
Mini vMac is a spin off of the program vMac. It was originally intended to be of limited interest, a simpler version to serve as a programmers introduction to vMac. But vMac hasn’t been updated in some years, and doesn’t have a number of fixes included in Mini vMac, so Mini vMac may now be more generally useful.
Today's Development source snapshot can now emulate a Macintosh II, sort of. It doesn't emulate a video card yet, so it is not too useful. But it does successfully boot System 6.0.8, run an application, and then run AutoQuit. Mostly it demonstrates that progress is being made. (The build option is '-m II'.)"
